We typically do a rustic Christmas theme, which has been one of my favorite themes because it represents who we are as a family. It’s comfort, simplicity, warmth, and coziness. I always like our porch to feel like a big ol’ welcome home hug, and have it continue as you walk through the house.
We love to chop our own tree down, and I decided to whip up a few rustic Christmas ornaments to add a little nature along side the gold, silver, and mint ornaments I use. I was staring at the tree before I had the idea to make these, thinking it needed something else, and I happened to have a bag of those cinnamon pinecones. And ribbon. And hot glue.

In my set, I’ve got 6 pinecones, and 5 wood slices. The pinecones are the cinnamon scented ones out this time of year, and the wood slices Andrew and I cut on the table saw as we were making a set of coasters from a small log we had in the firewood pile in our yard.
Easy Pinecone Christmas Ornaments:
Supplies:
Cinnamon Scented pinecones
Holiday Ribbon
hot glue gun
glue sticks
scissors
Get ready, because this is THE MOST LABORIOUS batch of ornaments.
Wait, you know I’m being sarcastic, right?
Cut your ribbon to the length you want, and make a loop.
Add a dollop of glue, and stick the ends together.
Add a dollop of glue on the top of your pinecone.
Stick the ribbon-ends in the glue, and press it down.
Woah.
They are huge and make a nice looking statement with the wood slice ornaments, and smell so good, and they look right at home on that cute Frasier Fir!
Don’t they look adorable!? You could even glue the ribbon to the pinecone, and tie the top with a bow or cute knot – it’s really up to you and your rustic vibes. I love pinecones because they’re all encompassing, right? They will take you from fall, straight through all your winter days without having to un-decorate too much after Christmas.

Sarah, you are so kind! Your pinecones though would weigh your tree down… you need a bigger tree 😉
These are so cute, I love how fast you can make these and nearly for free. I mean even if you have to buy the pinecones they’re still the most inexpensive ornaments. Love your tree and it’s rusticness 🙂
The quickness & cheapness about this are my favorite things!
