Dining Room Chairs: Favorites to Mix and Match

Sitting at our dining room table is like playing a game of Russian Roulette, while at the same time a fun game of Musical Chairs. It sounds stressful, doesn’t it? Around our table, we need to seat 5 people in 4 rattan dining room chairs. To make the stakes even higher, 2 of these chairs are in various states of ricketiness (rendering them useless to adults). I’m not certain if ‘ricketiness’ is actually a word, but we’ll roll with it.

“Oh my gosh, y’all this is a rickety one. Swap.” – Me.
“Son, grab a stool, your sisters got the broken chairs.” – Me.

I have this absolute ridiculous idea that we can have affordable and attractive dining room chairs, for each person, without having people sitting on a stool, or praying they don’t crash to the ground in the rickety chairs.

These dining room chairs are perfect to mix and match!

I enjoy the metal chairs because they’ll stack nicely when the extras aren’t in use. The upholstered chairs with the nail heads… yaaaas honey. They’re so polished! But am I polished enough to have nail heads on my dining room chairs? Fake it till you make it, I suppose. And the added texture and warmth of the rattan chairs are things which my less-rickety-chair dreams are made of.

Could I effectively mix and match these chairs? I enjoy any pair of these chairs together, as an industrial farmhouse battle of the dining room chairs main event. That could be another fun game, but less dangerous and everyone can play because they’d technically have a proper seat.

Hrm…

Now I’m wondering if a breakfast nook would be cute over in the corner. We could get a fiddle leaf fig – fake of course, b/c I kill all indoor houseplants – and have ample room to make the coffee.

We have a $100 Room Challenge coming up, and I bet I’ll have enough time to convince Andrew to help me build it.

A rousing game of Russian Roulette Musical Chairs should do the trick.

  1. Girlfriend!!!! First of all, I’m in love with your room- secondly, I want all of these chairs! They’re beyond lovely!!! Great post!! I was hooked from the moment I started reading’?

  2. Love the chair choices. I have chairs very similar to number 3 in a galvanised steel. We have had them for 20years and still love them. They are comfy and have outlasted other dinning room chairs which have bit the dust long ago.
