Do you know how many times I’ve heard, “Do not bring home any doors!” I guess I’ve reached my capacity of barn sales, according to Andrew. But, I disagree. I need more. I have this obsession with barns and old stuff, I love the ladders and lofts. I love the peaked roof and all the windows. The cavernous space of a huge old stone and wood barn makes you feel so small and humble. What kind of hard work and farm hands have seen those walls, the love and dedication to run that farm, and build that barn. All the wood and beams! Oh, the beams! My heart goes pitter pat.
There is a local barn that’s open randomly for sales (if you’re local to my area of southeastern Pennsylvania, it’s called Smithfield Barn), and they put much of their goods on their Facebook page, so you can see what’s ripe for picking before you venture over or you can even hold items. The weekend I went, I saw a handful of orchard ladders for sale outside, as well as these glorious red-rimmed enamel basins.

S O L D !
I have no idea where exactly to put the basins – probably hang them on a wall in my hallway with my still-not-completed laundry staging area I told you about with the basket and FB Live @ Target trip.
The wear on these, though!
Just gorgeous!
This orchard ladder is going in my bedroom and will hold this antique pineapple crochet coverlet.
My mom-mom made it for my mom’s bed when she was a kid. There’s also a matching coverlet and a table cloth floating around somewhere.
Isn’t it just perfection?
I’m dying to know where this ladder is from, and what was painted with it! I wish all this stuff came with a great story on a tag, don’t you?
Want to know a secret about barn sale items?
A lot of Etsy shops have vintage farmy barn sale items… just like these gems:
So, are you a barn sale obsessor?
What’s your favorite thing to hunt for? My new obsession has got to be these enamel basins, but I can see myself getting a ton of these orchard ladders too! Pin and share this, so we can all continue our barn sale obsession together!
Ok. A few things: first of all….that SHIPLAP!!!! (excuse me while I wipe the drool off my face) LOL! Secondly, that ladder has me all googly-eyed. – and those enamelware bowls? So sweet. (reminds me of my own collection hidden in storage that I should really dig out). 😀
My favorite things to hunt for at barn sales and such?? Anything that speaks to me. It might be a bust, it might be an orchard ladder…I just never know. And that’s the fun of it. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your fun finds!!
My shiplap! It’s all in the hallway, and I STILL have yet you share that project, despite how simple it was! I need a few more ladders, and possibly a bust! 😀
That throw is just spectacular!
My favorite things to hunt for are as follows, but not limited to; plum transferware, tarnished silver pieces, chairs, floral artwork, and all the French style things!
Currently I am on the hunt for an enamel ware pitcher. 🙂

Husbands can be killjoys sometimes, they just don’t understand our need to gather. I mean in stone ages we were gatherers, nits in our DNA after all ?
I have never been to a barn sale!! Yikes, I am missing some fabulous finds. This ladder is perfect for your house, and those bowls, I just want to hear their stories. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us, I am now on the look out for some good barn sales!
Everything is great but I really love the pineapple crocheted coverlet. My grandmother and aunt also made these and they have such beauty and history.
